A great little hidden jewel just around the corner from the busy street. The food is good and the floor mosaic job in the restaurant is a piece of art! A must see!

The food was good (seafood pasta and grilled squid) but the portions were a bit small and the price a bit high. The interior decorations are nice and rustic.

Completely crazy and funny owner and real amazing food. Tagliatelle al nero di seppia were the best we had in a long while! Branzino was also very good. An oldschool place, we were so lucky to find it.

I have visited restaurant EL Fornel in Via Fornelli street 1, just 220 m walking distance from Piazza Unita in the center of Trieste by my own as first a month ago and today as a tourist guide with my group. Excellent! Nice local staff, daily fresh fish, very good cusine, good local wine, pleasant and peaceful location on fresh air on the terrase, as inside of the restaurant is a top ambient. I can just reccomend to anyone El Fornel in Trieste, sister of El Fritolin in Barcola in Via Miramare. Grateful thanks from myside and all of the irish tourist group to El Fornel - I'll come ever again for a good fish lunch when visit Trieste city.
